Captain Seat Arm Rest Renovation

Post by jaymo »

Hi Folks,

Has anybody attempted the renovation of the arm-rests on Captain Seats?

I had no problem removing the armrests, that was the easy part.

The hard part is getting to the internal mechanism to re-attach the nut that goes somewhere on the adjusting arm.

I've read through the info about Seat Renovation at www.weidefamily.net/vanagon/ but still cant figure out how to get inside the plastic casing to get to this pesky nut.

Any help would be great before I end up pulling too much more of my hair out.

Yep, lost the nut :(

Its still inside the casing. I can hear it rattling around in there.

I've read on that web site, that the nut can be re-attached with long nose pliers, but I'll be damned if I can see how.

Hi Bud,

Guess what? I live in Kings Heath too, small world hey.

The only way you will get that nut back where it should be, is by taking the armrest apart.

Theres a post I recently added witht the title 'Capatain Seat Armrest Useful Information with Pics'
where you will find all the info you will need to solve your stray nut problem :ok
