Winch on a Syncro

Post by KJH »

Hi all,

I need to fit a winch to the front of my Syncro for work, and have some questions!

1. I have seen the excellent winch mounts on www.vwrack.com and this is the way I'll probably go, but are there any rules in The UK for front mounted accesories? I seem to remember 'dangerous projections' from my Cal look bug days, and T bars.....

2. Van is TD, and hence the battery is in the engine compartment. I know that I need to run a 400amp cable to the rear, and this is expensive! Question is, will this work well enough? The instructions say not to use the chassis as earth, but can't see why if the circuit is good?

Cheers!

you will need to run a battery up front on a split charge to power your winch, dont even think about running cables to the rear, cut out the panel in the lower grill to mount winch as far back as poss, dont forget to put a power interupt switch somewhere to stop scallies flat packing your van,cj.
bought some real off roaders!!!!!!!
