Which starter motor do I get - lovely pics to look at!!

Post by Valsowners »

Vals starter motor has been annoying me for ages, so as a christmas present to her I thought I'd get a new one - obviously like all presents you buy for others I will not benefit from it at all

Anyway Vals engine is a CS 1600 (very slow) Diesel. Val is a Y reg however I think she has had an engine change at some point because her V5 shows 1.9  .

I've looked on the JK website and it shows 2 starter motors one for 1981 to 1984 1600 diesels and one for 1984 to 1992 1600 diesels.

JK starter motors clicky

So which one do I need, there is one on Fleabay at the moment which may save me a bit of cash, I just don't want to buy it and find out it's the wrong one!!

How do you tell what year an engine is??

Can you see any numbers on the starter motor casing?
Its probably a bosch unit and should have a series of numbers.
If you can get these I might be able to help

Hiya

Can't see any numbers now as its too dark and cold!!

I know the engine is definitely the 1.6 non turbo, just dont know what the difference is between the 2 starters for different years - they look the same to me - just the price that's different!!!
