autohomes Komet roof

Post by dugwiththevwbug »

Have just purchased a Komet hightop. I want to remove the rear cupboard bulkhead and make a slide out bed.
Does any one have pics of the bed layout/spec for the bed variant of the roof.
Or does any one live near worthing west sussex that would allow me to have a nose around their roof

Hi Doug

I took some photos for another member on here (plymat)

View of lip the bed slides along. Note the hole above the light that a bolt on the bed slides into to secure it in place

Bed in stowed position

Bed extended, 3 'mattress' pieces of equal size

From below

Extended bed with mattresses removed. It looks like the base is in three pieces but the rear bit is twice as big as the sliding bit; that back 'divide' is in fact just a mark made by the sliding section when it's stowed

Sliding section in stowed position

View showing the bolt used to secure the sliding section when stowed.

Sliding section pulled fully forward so you can get up from the middle rather than the front. Frankly, it's more trouble than it's worth getting in this way

Bed fully stowed with bedding stored too. The wooden strip locks all the mattresses etc in place to stop them sliding forward when braking etc. I also store my tables up there between the two layers of mattresses

I did measure the dimensions of the wooden bases and matress sections but I've now lost them. PM 'plymat' as he probably still has them because he's trying to achieve the same thing you are......
