No Heat -- Aircooled

Appreciate Aircooled vans have no radiator sytem to draw heat out from, but is there literally no heat at all from these things?

My poor feet were like bags of frozen peas by the time we got to Oktoberfest.

I was dreaming of cunning inventions to vent (and fan assist) hot air from the engine forwards.

Didint help cold air was pi$$ing throught the inner door handle either

What kinds of solutions have you seen (apart from Ugg boots)

they actually put good heat out when they're working correctly,, are you going to cromer? if so i'll have a look for you if you like.
if not heres what to do first.
take the grill off and gaffa tape completely over the fresh air vent to block it up.
make sure all 3 sliders on the heater controls are over to the right hand side.
look through the gap over the rear wheels and make sure the cable operated levers on the heater pods are fully forward (if not cable tie them forward)
provided the ducting from the alternator is in place this should give you hot air up the windscreen

this is the set up for a 2 litre Aircooled as you don't mention which you have

If all else fails, this time of year get underneath and make sure flaps are wedged open permanently. Heating is basically identical to beetle heaters and believe it or not I melted a pair of wellies once that were left in front of heater outlets so they can kick out some heat when sealed and set up right.

Rusty heat exchangers with holes won't help if thats the prob. Get in there with exhaust paste and plug any gaps. Lots with the type 2 used to replace main heater pipe that runs length of van with drainpipe.

Yeah its a 2 ltr Aircooled.

ok m8 no worries.
just check all the way from the alternator to the corrugated hoses that go to the Y piece and make sure everything is connected and sealed. also difinately tape up the fresh air vent behind the grill.

And last thing, do it NOW before ice and snow is here. Most leave it till they freeze their bits off.

Now is the right time to check heating - goes for everyone.

Just fixed it.
The cables and fittings had coroded apart. For the time being I have fixed them to heat all the time.

Went for run...toasty warm !!!
