H4 round Headlamp problem

Post by ben50 »

Hi,

I've been busy today installing an inline blower fan into the heater pipes on my 2.0 air cooled, all finished now and really pleased.

Only trouble is, when I removed the front grill the drivers side headlamp lens came off with it.

So I am wondering is there a way of simply gluing it back on the the reflector? Or do I need a new complete unit?

If I need a new unit is it worth getting both lamps? or maybe upgrading to something like the clear aftermarket ones in golfs?

Cheers,

Ben

I used hight temp silicone sealant to stick mine back on the first time then a while after the pass side came off that went on with grip fill adhesive!!!!

Yup - silicon sealant. Fish tank stuff is the best and available in small tubes in pet shops. The silicon acquatic pipe is also a good replacement for washer jet hose too so thats at least two T25 bits you can get in a pet shop - no three - theres the plastic T-junctions that you find in many VW engine bays.

Cheers for the replies guys,

I hadn't realised how expensive headlamps can be, I have gone for an clear exterior sealant, that I already had open. Fingers crossed it'll last.

Unbelievable, I was just putting the front grill back on and the other headlight lens fell off too! Luckily it didn't break.
