bets to empty or leave some water in there?

im thinkign water out to stop it freezing?

If I remember correctly, according to the Westy manual, it is best to leave empty and to open as much air to it as possible, to avoid odor. Then there is a baking soda-to-water mix that is left in it overnight to absorb odors, then a through rinse right before using the water tank again.

or you could be really radical and use the van and water supply throughout the winter

in this country, unless you have a underfloortank you shouldnt need to worry really, a full tanks is less likey to freeze and do damage than a almost empty one, i only ever drain my underfloor completely if it forcasts below -8degC or windchill below -10degC . Its the pump that will suffer not the tank. However, if you do empty it, clean it out properly and dry it well.Dont use chemicals other than those designed for water systems,(puriclean for exampple) especially not baby sterilizing fluid, which is more expensive and will damage the pump.

ofcourse i use mine everyday, so the water is always moving, and moving water takes a much lower temp to freeze
