Ignition troubles.... Help!

Post by tom »

Hiya, Help!

My crewcab syncro cut out last night without any warning, turns over fine but there is nothing there at all.

I've got steady 12v at the coil on both terminals when cranking, don't know if this is right?

There is no spark from any HT lead including the centre lead.

The resistance of the rotor arm is 1k ohm.

The exhaust smells fuelly when cranking so I'm pretty crtain it's the electrickery thats letting me down.

Any ideas?

And just to throw a spanner in the works it's fitted with a volvo 740 engine. The ignition system looks exactly the same as a mates DG engined van so I think whoever fitted the engine used the VW system.

Cheers

Tom.

ignition module

Post by tom »

Sounds good. i'll take you up on that offer.
Just need to check one thing. I'm not sure if my ignition module is specifically for my volvo engine or if it's a standard VW module.
It's a Bosch ref- 0 227 100 118

Anyone have any ideas?

Well it could be the coil, or the hall sender/ points.

Without more details about your volvo engine we might as well pull ideas out of a hat!!!!
