Hightop sealent (Tigerseal)

Post by 1664 »

I washed my van saturday and an appreciable strip of the original seal decided it preferred the company of a wet sponge to the company of my hightop :( .

I've done a 'search' and Tigerseal seems to be the stuff to replace the old seal but where do you get it? Halfwits or any motor accessory outlet? Mail order?

This is hardly the weather for this to happen

Mine leaked a bit in the snow too. I'm on about the seal around the hightop itself - not the window............I don't have a Westy; it's an Autohomes

Hi all, just thought I would add my thoughts here, I recently added a hightop to my tin top and I used tigerseal as recommended by my friendly garage.
Result excellent, if a bit quick setting for my level of skill, but that's all that holding my lid on and it's lasted through the recent gales we had up here in the highlands.
I pasted right rounded and twice in the corners from the inside, any that oozed out, waited a week them trimmed with a knife no roblem. good luck with yours

To be honest 'Tigerseal' is not the best I would use Sikaflex 221 or Terason if Sikaflex is too expensive or not avaliable.
I have been building Vintage car bodies a long time and never had any problems with either of these products and intend to use sikaflex when I bond the roof back on my autosleeper Trident.

Cheapest......

I don't want to add to your confusion but if you want cheepest, I've always found Soudal 40FC as good as Tiger or Sikaflex and about half the price. Comes in white, black or grey.

Or ebay.
