Any idea`s on how to fit a rear window (tailgate). Tried to fit one in to my new tailgate today....it is 3 quarters fitted just the straight run at the top not seated. All 4 corners are in.....Any tips..the seal is from JK.
I used a very strong plastic tyre lever and just carefully levered it on all round, then I discovered how to do it in a few minutes with a nice hefty bit of greased rope!!
you need to put a piece of cord or strong string all around inside the rubber. leave 2 ends free preferably at the bottom in the middle. slot the bottom rubbers into place on the van and gently pull each loose end to the sides (in turn) and then up each side (in turn) and then along the top. Best to have someone on the inside pulling the cords and someone on the outside just pressing the glass in firmly at the same time.
when you get to the top middle it should slip into place. I then went all around the edges and tapped the glass with a rubber mallet to ensure it was all bedded in. Whole process took about 15 mins.
Fishing line is too thin, try cord, sorry that was what i meant not rope, if ya want some pm me got loads of new stuff here, its thicker than you think but it wont cut the rubber n helps slip in easily, i used a light greasse from work as well to help the rope slide out but there is a special lubey for it too. If ur really worried pop down n ask around at a windscreen place as there's always someone that wants to earn £20 away from the boss...
Steve is on his way to Taunton to buy a rear window this morning. The guy putting ours back in broke it yesterday. We're using a new rubber from JK too.

Not looking forward to doing the windscreen though if the back one has been this hard.. [/quote]
I did all my windows when my bus was re-sprayed. The rear screen was definately hardest.
It took 2 of us, 1 inside pulling the string through and 1 outside hitting the screen with the palm of the hand in the appropriate place
Suggest a line approx. 3-4mm in diameter. Smaller lines can rip rubber, larger take up too much room. Lube line and rubber. Work the line up and down or side to side to pull rubber over metal frame, then forward to move cord along..
