That's how much they used to be at the main steelers before some of the parts went obsolete. Try www.ebay.de a few to be found on their sometimes or try Syncronutz or CJ.

to mod the bottom door mount on lt ones is easy
you dont even need to measure the holes
if you have lt ones just look at the lower mount from the underside.
there is a casting mark, the lt hole will be at one end of an oval imprint, if you were to look at a t3 one then you would see the holes are just narrower.
inface the plastic section that sits under the mount is slotted.
you need to drill a hole with about a 3mm bit at the other end of each oval indent
then with a small countersink, countersink the hole on the outside ie what you can see when fitted .
then drill the hole out for clearence for the mirror mounting bolts (think they are m6 so a 6.5 mm drill will be fine)
its important to countersink the hole's before you drill them out to a bigger size as it stops the countersink drifting into the old holes as they are close. if i remember right when is drilled out to 6.5 the hole broke through to the old hole.
once fitted you can then if you unbolt the top mount from the steel tube but have it to hand you can then re angle the top bracket to match the door pillar.
this is easy to do with a big adjustable.
i brought the lt mirrors as they were 10 quid from the breakers. ive never paid more than 35 quid for a pair (some with mirrors on them, some without)
best place for mirrors is a motor factor that sells truck parts. the one local to me had a hole range of mirrors i could fit to the frames. even some heated + electric ones

Like t25adict says.
Keep the top mount to arm angle on a parallel plane to bottom so you can fold arms in when you want to. Upper mount for LT is same as Syncro, but Syncro use a tapered plastic gasket to fill the couple of mill gap at bottom. I have tracings of LT and Syncro arms... and tracings of mine with bottom of arm shortened 61mm.
Keep in mind there are early and late LT arms/brackets. Lower mount on early LT arms is just a flat like upper mount, so can't fold mirror back out to indexed position like late LT/Syncro ones.

Those be the real T3 mirrors.
We paid £25 for our LT's and another £45 for new mirrors, syncro lower mounts and syncro packing for both upper and lower mounts for a total of £70. (They aren't as loud as exhaust either.) Don't think VW has any lower mounts now.
CJ was selling LT sets last spring, and may still be able to get them for you.

hi
there are 3 types of lower monut!
very early is justa strip with 2 holes , mounts to bar the same as the upper mount! , you probably wont find these much due to them being so old.
later2 types look the same , only the very late ones seem to have the oval imprints mentined earlier for drilling, so you just have to guess the hole position(not hard)
worth noting its just as easy to drill the door and nut/bolt the mount(door panel removal to get to nut)
also these wothout the imprint are different to the syncro ones. ie if you could(possibly now non availabe) buy syncro lower mounts they wont bolt to the arm! the shape of the folding mech is different.
also worth noting you can get alluminium and steel arms.i have cut/welded steel ones to the size of syncro ones , obvious not as easy with alluminum ones.
