Got a camper-finally

Hi,

Been lurking on the site for a while now and finally managed to get me what I wanted, I was after a T25 because I thought I wouldn't stand a chance of getting a useable bay window but then in August I came across a bay window (not literally you understand) and bought it, Took it to Cornwall (rude not to) and learnt that I really needed a T25 even more.

So I took affirmative action and got a 1989 Autosleeper Trident, its got all the toys like Propex heating and a non working fridge and of course a few rusty seams, Big bumpers and square headlights.

Had to d!ck about going to England twice in one week from where I live here in Jersey to view it then collect it from Brixham in Devon (Lloyd's patch) and the brakes are shagged (squeeling constantly depite plenty of meat left on pads) but hopefull those days in South of France/Cornwall/Lake District Etc will make it all worth while and the favourite part-I can stand up in it!

The difference between driving the two vans is night and day! I can cruise at 70 no stress.

Not very exciting granted but I just though I'd introduce myself.

By the way, Whilst driving from Plymouth to Poole on Monday (27th) morning (roughly 5am-7am) I was overtaken by a T25 pop-top, I would've been on either the A38, A30 or A35 but possibly A38 area but I can't remember where exactly-too early! Was it anyone on here?

Hello and welcome. Nice conversion those Tridents

I had the brake shoes replaced on my old camper and they constantly squealed despite numerous attempts to stop them. Only a hunch but maybe replacement shoes are made from a different material due to good old Health & Safety poking their interfering little noses in

I've got an early bay as well as the t25 - they both have their own merits and I'm such a short a*** I can stand up straight in both - high top or not

So how's it going? Get your brakes sorted? If I'd know you were here and weren't stopping, I would have thrown out the tire punture strip as you went by. Then you would have had to stop.

Not got brakes sorted yet-its booked in for next Monday so I've been using the old bay-window in the meantime, have pre-ordered discs (pads ok), shoes, cylinders inc master cylinder, drums and bearings on account that I'm totally impatient when it comes to cars so I want in and out working quickquickquick.

Have you met syncromonvie, he runs simon sand quarry at val de la mare farm, st peters, Jersey.

Not met him-although I did used to deal with someone in my old job from there so its quite possible I have met him in the past which would be bizzare. How do you know him syncropete? (obviously syncro related I'd imagine)

Great choice of camper too..

my brakes squeeled like a cat, after changing the pads.
but they have settled down now with a bit of use

Cheers Kev-can't really go wrong with an Autosleeper! I'm sure Westfalias are very well made but I'm just not into acres of grey plastic.

I would put some pics up but I can't get my head around the Muchos thing and none of my photobucket pics will load.

Just got some Grandad Scorpio alloys but need to get the fitting bits and some suitable load-rated tyres.

Yep - those tridents are a lovely conversion - i've sat in a couple and been given the tour.

You dont have to hold you tongue on your views on westies - i too think they are rubbish

Im sure someone will be along to defend them....

What engine have you got?

Kind of wish I went for a Trooper with the folding roof now mind you it is bloody nice to be able to stand up in a camper without having to release catches and raise bits as it were.

Mine is a 1.9 DG petrol, It sounded bloody awfull the other day really tappety but it was cold and doesn't sound so tapperty today. Need to give it a good oil flush methinks. When its not tappety though I'm suprised every time I drive it just how smooth it is for a near twenty year old van.

Needs a bit of TLC due to the last couple of owners just never using it but the file of receipts shows someone lavished some lovin on it at some point.
