BFG MTs
I have just run 215/75/15 BFG MTs on my Syncro for about 500 kms in all weathers and I have to say that they are rubbish on the road. The van wallows about all over the place in cross winds, slides about on fast wet bends and makes the steering very wolley indeed. So, I changed over to 225/70/15 Contis on 7 x 15 Ronal alloys and I have a lovely quiet, safe van again. The handling is great (for a garden shed) and the whole van is so much more stable in all conditions. I put a few pics in my garage of the wheels and tyres I fitted to the van so you can have a wee look.

What did you expect!!!! the MT's are 80% offroad the Contis 90% road.....
Running about with the "Guyanes" on at the mo, they are bloomin noisey

No greenlanes, so no offroad tyres here. Instead I drive on 195/14 Hankook RA08 ...and they're are brilliant on road, dry or wet. No sliding, no wallowing, no screeching, poifect.
Plus they get me out of this every morning (my turning spot) without even a hint of wheelspin ...what more could you ask.

Have you got a better pic of those tyres peasant?
I like the look of big tyres but I love the way the 14'' drive. Haven't driven my caravelle for a couple of months, as I've been messing about with my Doka, but took it out this evening, to keep everything moving & pump some oil into those tappets.
Into town to drop some DVD's off, loved the acceleration (2.1 & stripped-out interior) But on the way back went off down a couple of little lanes, zero tread & slippy mud. Had a ball!!

Are they available in 205's??? (altough the 195's are a bit better than 185's in any case) handy increase in height with no loss of road manners as they were an option from VW..

I have a set of 4 nearly new 205/14 M&S Semperits on syncro rims if anyone is interested. I dont need them anymore .....
Id still like to be able to go around corners at the same speed as the rest of the traffic ..........

A big tip is to drive according to the tyres you have fitted to you van not to how you want your van to drive.

Funny...i dont have any trouble keeping up with traffic or going round corners.
Neither do i and my vans are a lot taller and heavier than any i now of and are on MT's
Hmmmmmm .......... maybe its just that we Irish drive faster round corners!! Our road manners are definately different to those in the UK !!!
