fitting a rev counter to a 1700 air cooled any ideas

i've been told its one wire but where too????? ive bought a chav i mean rev gauge just wonder how easy to fit mainly want it to keep an eye on over reving ... also how accurate are oil pressure gauges if you extend the wires to be dash mounted because in the kit you only get short wires.... cheers any help wud be great...
new to the vw scene but... new weber carb conversion went well :)

rev counters are fed from the contact breaker (hall sender )coil connection, Late vans had this as standard in the wireing loom (even if no rev counter fitted)
What year is your van? some bright spark will reveal all.

to fit a rev counter to any petrol engine, you need a signal from the coil.
this would be from the (-) neg connection marked on the coil.(On a VW the (+) pos has black wires to it.

You will then also need a (+) pos 12vdc feed and a (-) neg12vdc feed and optional lighting connection.

sorry, know nothing about oil pressure wiring length!
