A nice new exhaust???

Post by Jutstar »

I m after a new exhaust for my 87wbx DG, mine i reckon is only held together by some gaffer tape and chewing gum or summat!!

I ve had a read on the WIKI but there s only one.

I was after something a bit non-standard so if anyone has any good uns they could reccommend let me know.

Also i was told that 'others' fit which are cheaper, not sure if i mis-heard but any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

As you may have found from the WIKI a Stainless system alternative (suitable for a 1,9 WBX ) can be had via LA Performance for just over 4oo quid..... like this one,,,,

I have been using one for few months now and it works well, sounds great and you can even see how your motor is running by the colour of the pipework adjacent to the muffler... :D

I went for the VW Speedshop system 8) Fits a treat and sounds cool as without being chavy, kind of a cross between a scooby and a porker flat
6. I run a speedshop system on my bug too as always excellent quality. £425 with a fitting kit .

Just talked to Paul at VW Speedshop and ordered one today. Yeah, I know the sound makes it more powerful... and butt dyno is relative... but did either of you notice any performance change from stock to this exhaust?

Yes mate I had noticable power increase probably due to the mines an MV and the new system ditches the restrictive Cat . Do to the fact the stocker didnt reach i also replaced the ageing lambda sensor which has had an improvement on economy :o .
You will also have to change the oil filter to the shorter Polo type with the nut on the end ask GSF . There are a couple of trains of thought ref the smaller filter but Ive had no problems and at just £3 change it every 2k when I drop the oil.

I would like to say yes to the question, but I think the feel of increased power may be due to me knowing the bottom end is in 'good fettle' and it is set up right which now tends to encourage me to 'Boot ' it rather than respect it as I did before.

First 10 mile drive on new system:

Think it pulls better, but it is definately louder then stock.... and resonates alot of noise between 2600rpm and 3500rpm.

Let me get a little more time in it, but pretty sure I want to somehow quiet down the inside resonating.

You will find your fuel economy improve.
The exhaust will be less restrictive. (about 1MPG better)
