can only comment on cost of parts as i did all the work myself,
the most expensive bit was the collection of diesel bits as listed on the wiki, cost me about £400. You'll have to shop around, word was the bits were getting hard to source. I used a diesel exhaust silencer as the WBX has 2 ports whereas the diesel has one. I got a local custom exhaust shop to make me a stainless downpipe - I cut the flange off the original GTi and they made a very simple pipe that goes straight from the GTi manifold to the silencer. expect to pay about £80. I was told that the Diesel silencer was strangling the GTi - I'll upgrade that when it rots.
