I am having trouble lighting my hob sometimes when i depress the knob it lights (by match of course) and stays lit when i release it but many times it just goes out.
sometimes when Ive held the knob in for a while and it then stays lit
question does the burner work with a thermacouple or by gas pressure
have tried on calor gas (butane with regulator)
campng gaz with attached regulator
When i purchased the kitchen block it had an original red regulator (german) but i have no idea what gas cannister it uses so i swapped it for the above mentioned
any ideas cos holding in the knob whilst waiting for the kettle to boil is a right royal pain in the buttocks.
cheers doug

A lot have thermocouples. Is there a thin piece of metal positioned close to each ring? If so you will have to hold the knob down until this heats up - usually only a few seconds. As long as your regulator is suitable for your gas botlle it'll be fine. Camping gaz is butane and a blue regulator.

Get an underslung tank second hand and it will pay for itself in no time.
Make sure it comes with a regulator that is the same mb as your fridge and if lucky you will have an accessorie take off to run your new gas BBQ.
Ps westys had two types of regulators 30mb and 50mb.
Look inside your fridge and there should be a silver sticker which will tell you what mb yours is.

If you kept the German regulator you can buy a small adapter that allows you to fit it onto UK Propane bottles. Available from Gaslow, called an Easyfit adapter (German Reg to UK Propane) part No 01-1674G its in the Gaslow catalogue for about 12 quid.

That might help with the pressure.
FYI, If you still have the beige or Grey German bottle, phone your local caravan place or Gaslow stockist place and ask nicely if they will refill it. Apparently some places will, it has 21.8LH fitting the same as Gaslow. Worth a shot !
