Westy pop top fitting- advice needed
I've looked through the threads on pop top fitting and understand I will need to make a bracket for the hinges to match up to the standard roof section on my Syncro. Has anyone done this and if so can you describe what the bracket looks like?
Thanks
Mud.
Thanks

ummm....there's many a trader happy to give advice.....Baxter, Aiden, Gasure are just a few I have had advice from. He will still have a business, and there will be just as many who need them made for them to justify the odd time when some advice is given that may not result in a sale. It will, however, result in that "priceless" recommendation to others that the guy is genuine and helpful!

mud you need to have a good look and take some pics of a genuine westy pop top, you`ll see what needs to be done straight away and its pretty easy to do.
the difficult bit is making it look tidy when its finished.
if you dont get any luck local to you i`ll dig my westy out from under all my junk and take some pics.

Hi Lee
I'm sure it isn't rocket science as you say but I have heard that if fitting a pop top to a transporter roof the curve is different which means the main hinge won't sit flush. I have had a good look at a Westy pop top and the hinge is the only thing holding me up.

I am sure that this is what mike ghia has done on limey the syncro, see his very long thread on it's restoration on the brickyard. He has a westy roof drilled out complete to go on, but has installed it on the existing roof for now.
Good luck.

A westy roof will fit and with the help of russel off here, he made a bracket that strenghns the hinge at the back when bolted to the roof.
