Brake Squeeeeal.

Hey all, have recently fitted new discs and pads, and tried to bed them in gradually, they work brilliantly now, but there is a really annoying, steam train whistle-like squeal from them, (pagid pads and brembo discs, std GSF stuff) they're the late type crescent shape pads.
are any of the anti squeal compounds you can get worth a try? or have i done something wrong when fitting? the sliding pins were fine, and i cleaned and re-greased them, will it just settle down when they're fully bedded in?

Having the same problem with my late set up too

GSF discs and pads.

they have been on for a good 500 miles, and still it's the same... always when they get hot too

I'm convinced it's the pads as they did it on the old worn discs

Just did my pads this morning, not change them, but to dismantle, put a bit of coppaslip on the bits that touch, wind the piston in and out to excersize it, and hey presto, have got rid of that annoying squeal and high pitch whine. Seehow long it lasts, but you could see where the pads touch the caliper body was shiny from rubbing.

Agree with SyncroSimon

Put a little Copperslip/Copperease on the back of the pads (that would be the side that isn't in contact with the disc

) and you should be squeal-free

Chamfer leading edge of the pads with a file...

As said use coppaslip on the parts that are in contact with the caliper and the piston...

Quite often they need taking it up to 60 or 70 on a dry empty road with a nice flat grippy surface and big step on the brakes... this cleans up the pads and discs........ but you have to be carefull when and where you do this...

If you fitted them without copper slip then it will defo squeek! All way's put some on the contactin face's (not disk side!) never had trouble wen i do it like that!
