alternator question

i have just got a 2nd hand alternator , on the pulley at the end is it supposed to have a dent in it? its not uniform all the way around , it has a dip in the pulley ?

this is not the alternator but something like what it looks like:

I'm not sure but it can hardly be accidental as both 'dents' are exactly equal and opposite. Can't see it being anything other than design but why I don't know.

I don't think so..

mine hasn't nor did the previous one.

That pulley's tatered , why not swap it for the one that's coming off ?

It looks to me as though someone has gripped it with pliers or something so as to undo the nut. Now there could be a little challenge in itself!

chuck it in the bin and use the one off your old one
god did not let us invent metal to only make paper clips v6 camper not in his plan that was my idea.

i just bought it, is it definitly a fault.? i could use it for the exchange unit for a new one couldnt i?

if you have a vice then use it to remove the useless pulley.. and fit the pulley off your old alternator

or trade it for a new one
