HI Top roof side windows help please

Post by djhammy »

HI folks the fixed perspex windows that are either side of my T25 hi top roof are cracked and the rubber is coming away. I would love to replace them with ones that open.

Trouble is that they are not standard oblong ones or square even due to the profile of the roof. I know they exist as I've taken photos of them on a van with the same roof.

If any one can tell me where they think i could try i'd be mighty greatful. Plus it might help if i new what style my hi top roof is. again answers on a postcard etc.

Have hopefully put links to my van and the ones I'm after if not see back up post below

Cheers

Hammy

Hi top windows

You could try autocraftmotorcaravans.com in Sheffield.
They used to stock hinged windows for hi tops.
For rubber seals I use sealsplusdirect.co.uk they might even know of a supplier for windows.
Other than the above if you 'google' motor caravan parts, hi top roofs, motor caravan conversions etc. etc I'm sure something will turn up.

PS Try looking on the ''self build motor caravan'' web site. www.sbmcc.co.uk

is the window fitted using the traditional rubber seal or is it fitted to a recess using some sort of bonding compound?

if it's the rubber type then you could increase the size of the hole to fit a more std type of window?

Hammy, just a quick question .... if your van's RHD as the wipers would suggest .. How does your slider open with the centre awning bracket where it is ?

HI Ian yes the van is RHD and has sliding doors both sides. When you open the door it comes out and misses the bracket for the pull out awning.

HI Dave it looks like a rubber seal goes round the edge of the hole in the roof. The perspex is fitted into it then it looks like a further rubber seal is pushed in place on the outside to keep it in place. The problem is this seal is falling out and the perspex is cracked.

You can get the opening windows as i've seen them and taken photos i Just can't find any one who sells this type of window in a tapred size.
