hi all
Still need to get a bently manual, any ideas where the cheapest place to get one is? Also must get a digital camera.
Horn on the syncro was coming on on it's own due to loads off play in steering. This turned out to be the steering lock housing casting and the copper raced bearing having stretched severly off round. Odd to see a casting do that...
Probably because power steering belt was missing and it was a bit heavy to drive. £3 belt sorted that fine (no leaks so far!).
Just putting a new housing/bearing in from GSF. There was a little plastic flanged bush that takes up the gap between the inner bearing race and steering shaft, not sure if this was fitted correctly before.
Is this meant to go the shaft before under the housing/bearing or be pushed in after the housing/bearing is fitted? i.e is the flange of it meant to be above or below the bearing.
Thanks for any answers
matt

Thanks simon I'll have a look at that. SyncroG just been round and I've had a look at his Bentley, that helped. Before I collected the van the dash was taken out to fix a small but difficult dent on front panel, I just found main spacer between steering wheel and steering column column in the glove box. Now it goes together!
