I don't think people general realise how much a good vise costs nowadays!
There are so many cheap crap ones on sale made of recycled baked bean cans (not really but wanted to get a point across) that when you look at the price of the quality brands like Record you just think they are taking the pi$$.
We bought 12 X 4 inch non descripts from our tool suppliers around 18months ago, all but two have sheared off their main drive (the bit the handle goes through) we are in the process of replacing them.
I work with kids, we do a bench fitting project once a year, they actually haven't been used once by the kids because most broke before they had chance to use them.
The difference in price between these cheapies and a quality Record is enormous but the difference in quality is even bigger.
If it were me I'd snap toolsntat's hand off because these two vices are a giveaway.
