Wiper arms

Post by superbus »

Hi all,
Does anyone know if wiper arms should have splines on the inside to mesh with the splines on the spindle? Or would the splines on the spindle 'cut' splines in the arm? All my previous cars had splines/grooves on the arm as well as the spindle. Bought a second hand one this summer which lasted 5 minutes, and just got the new one from JK (marked with VW part no) but it is smooth on the inside-I can't see it working at all! Thanks for any thoughts or ideas for alternative source.

They are smooth (I think). Bolting them down makes them bind on the splines

Thanks Shaun, I'll give that a go and see how I get on! I've been running around with only one wiper for long enough now and the rainy season is coming (again!)
