Hi folks,

Another long shot (I do get them don't I)

Supposed to be going to the Fox and Goose today - not sure I'm, going to make this meet as the clutch centre I was going to use who in the week said "Yeah, ring us when you've got the part and we'll fit you in" is now saying "Sorry love, we're a man down - gone sick"

So. I have the slave cylinder. I might be able to fit this myself, reading the wiki and the haynes manual - don't seem to hard (and the Haynes manual says its a 2 spanner job - well, I've got more than 2 - a whole bunch of them infact (thats my attempt at a joke all :lol: )

I can prob put part in myself - but going to need some help in bleeding it I think (Ians gone to work - inconsiderate chap lol). Maybe I can get a Halfords bleed assistant thingy, but thought may as well post on here first.

For me the hardest part was getting the hose/pipe off the slave cylinder.
It was a right barsteward, in the end I rounded the bliddy thing off and had to go to VW workshop for the repair.
Make sure your tool is a good tight fit around the hose/pipe nut.

Once you have that loose, you can disconnect the pipe and block the end to stop all the fluid draining out.
With the hose off you just have to remove the two nuts and bolts (with associated washers) that secure the slave clyinder to the motor/gearbox.

Installation of the new slave cylinder the reverse of the removal sequence.

Bleeding single-handed is always fun (not), you can do it with the aid of a bit of broom handle.

I'm off today, I'd come and do it for you but I'm 350 miles away so can't really help, sorry.
You can bleed it on your own using an EaziBleed which will cost £16. I fear that will be the easy part. If you are not a regular spanner user it could be a fiddle to swap it over, add in corroded and rounded nuts and you might be better to look for another garage. Are you in the AA or similar? Will it get you far enough to be fixed at the roadside? Just a thought.

I saw these for sale in GSF the other day. I've used one of these several times on my Saabs. They really are the business. The Gunson one is the one to get. When I was buying mine I was warned away from the Halfrauds one by a few people who use the Gunson one commercially.

Slave cylinder now in - an hours job - £35 labour by a local clutch firm.
Just waiting for the rain to stop so I can go out and have a play.
