Wiring the rear wiper

Post by Krisis »

Ok,
I have drilled the hole, sealed and fitted the rear wiper. :D
I have the bottle installed, piped and wired. :D
I have wired all of them through to the front of the van. :D
I have installed the correct control arm and switch, push function for rear. :D
I have installed and wired the relay for the intermitent for the front wiper. 8)
The relays have been mounted in the fuse box to keep things tidish. :D

The problem that I have now is which wire goes to which terminal on the relay, :? number 72, terminals are :- L, 15, 31 & 53
I have 2 wires from the motor, 1 from the washer bottle and one wire from the switch that activates it all. :?

Please dont copy and send the wiring diagram from Bentley etc cos I cant make head nor tail of it this week, brain if fried :oops:

Can anyone help please
Kris

DONE IT

All fitted, wired and working

Using relay 72 I have wired it the following way
L = Wiper switch feed and the Washer jet
15 = Live feed, fused and wiper constant
31 = Earth
53 = wipe intermitent

It was the last connection that confused me in that there is now a constant live feed to the rear wiper motor but the switch works fine as does the rear wash/wiper

If you fiddle with anything long enough you will cure it or KILL IT thankfully I cured this one

If your 1989 is anything like my late van it'll be alot easyer. Stick the relay in socket 11, change wiper stalk for one with rear switch, and find the plug hanging behind the fusebox ready for the rear wiper loom.

Thanks for that tip, I'll have a look for the plug.
I have the wiper stalk already and a length of cable.

Just looking for a box of enthusiasm and I can get this done and fit my Corrado mirrors and modify the glow plug wiring.
