I think my water pump is knackered, BUT which one do I get. Just Kampers list 3 or 4.
Its a 1994 1.9 n/a Diesel (1Y) replacing a 1.6 n/a diesel (unknown year)
Is it a case of remove and have a look or are they pretty much the same?
How much for one form VW - anyone know off hand or has Ekta??
Thanks in advance.

The water pump pulleys on the 1y 1.9n take a ribbed belt .I replaced my 1.6td for a 1y but used the 1.6 water pump which use a V belt. The pulley bolt holes are diffrent to each.I have a 1y water pump and would sell cheap.

I just changed over the pulley on mine - the holes were the same.
Im thinking they are all the same - but go for one specifically for the 1Y just in case.

The threaded holes on the 1y pulley shaft wouldnt line up to the 1.6td V belt pulley. So there must be some diffrences.

I'll have to take the current one off then and have a look at the part number.
Thanks for the pointers though

No offence taken Ringo you may be right some pumps could be the same. But the water pump on the 1y engine fitted the block but wouldnt line up to the 1.6td V pulley.
