would it not be worth looking into using something like a bosh pump from a 2.5 4 pot td iveco engine?
to start it has to have a higher fuel rate than that of a 1.9 td?

how about the bosh pump from a pug 306 td. the aaz was always going to be harder work to tune as the hole engine was an "eco" engine.. you only have to look at how much fun the SB gtd engine's are.

the 2.5 td range rover also uses a bosh pump.
if i continue down the diesel route then i will definatly be looking at other pumps... as yet i need to learn more about the internals but that will come from pulling them apart and having a go.
WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough

There are a number of pumps out there, but some if not all need to be modified to fit....There are diffrences in input shafts and thus fitting the pulley wheel can be a problem and maintaining corrrect alignment for the belt.
Also, my azz pump sits under the enigne lid with no modifications, no raise lids or cutting.......its a snug fit but fits! I fitted a GTD boost pin at the weekend and set it to its most 'lean position'.....oh my god, good things happend.......loads of mid range grunt...........and still no black smoke......but wifey says the MPG has gone down..so probley revert back to the AAZ Eco pin...It takes only 5 minutes to swap over, so may fit the GTD pin for long haul journeys when we are fully loaded up and run the AAZ ECO pin for general day to day round town, shopping and school trip stuff........GaV

As been said there are a number of pumps out there that can be moded to do the job but few do it proply.
Over the years i have fitted from the most expensive to the cheapest available for the job(already moded)
From this i have found 2 pumps that are very good in all aspects and dont make the TDI sound like a tractor.Unfortunatly the one is no longer available so i only use the other now.The one i use easily compares to the most expensive one available if not better.(Dont ask who makes them)
The 2 biggest thing using a mech.TDI pump is reliability with performance most make shift pumps give neither.

Pardon me if I'm missing the point guys, but why wouldn't you want to say the manifacturer or particular type of pump- I thought this was supposed to be a forum for the sharing of all or any information pertaining to the Type 25, why would you keep tight-lipped about info that could help a lot of people??

Well some people on here are traders and as such make their living from these vehicles. At the same time some of us have invested a lot of money and time in research to make a living. You dont expect a lawyer or draftsman giving out legal help or house plans to people who are not their customers for free.
As it stands people like myself and other traders do however land up spending a lot of time on the phone giving out advice and information which dosnt pay the bills.
Now as i see it if i started giving out the names of all my supplyers, all my technical advice, and all my time for free who's going to feed and clothe my family.

I spoke to my local Diesel specialists Pattersons Diesels in Cowdenbeath and they said they would build a mTDi pump and give a 12 month warranty on it. They are a Bosch service centre and seem to know their stuff.
Cheers

Ive had them do basic recondition work on quite a few pumps! They where our recomeded pump reconditioner (By F0rD for my sins!) A very poor succsess rate on bog standard tdi pumps not to mention ther work on injectors
Beware Slobo! Get a pump from them to test your self before parting wit tha wongga!
More is less, stay pure, stay poor.

Not going to. Was thinking about it when the other pump was an unknown quantity. Glad I didn't now.
Cheers

Hi Mark, doing well thanks, may see you at Slough Swap meet this weekend?
Bus is running fine thanks, been doing some more tweaking, GTD boost pin still fitted, bus is flying!, had late night drag racewith 1600 twin carbed bug and it was side by side stuff until the road switched from 2 lanes back to 1......!!!!! Bug driver could not believe he could not get away from the T25.........LOL........ :D
Dont think I can sqeeze anymore out of the diesel now, as im getting close to 'run away', revs now taking about 3 seconds to return to idle, so I have now reached the limit of a standard AZZ pump set up.
But all that extra torque, I managed to break the left hand engine mount (well cracked a weld.........sorted now..........)
