Sliding Door Catch
Hi, still getting to grips with my first van, and having fun in with it. However, the sliding door keps popping open when driving, which when I'm on me tod is not such a big problem, just drafty, but is a mare when the kids are in the back. The cams/ teeth on the catch seem okay, if a little worn, but it is happening when the door is locked. Does the door just need adjusting/ levelling or do I need to get hold of a new lock? Everything seems to be lined up okay? Any suggestions well received...

Mine had a spate of that. I couldn't find anything significant but probably fiddled with it somehow and that fixed it. It seem OK now but I tend not to drive with it not locked. Please do tell ifyou find out.

Mine was the same. For a couple of years I was adjusting everything in sight to cure it. Last year I bit the bullet and went to VW and got a new latch. It works a treat. When I took the old one out I couldnt see any difference between the old and new. I assume the old one was worn somewhere. Never had a problem since. The latch wasnt expensive either, well worth doing.

the problem is this: you know the fat pin (on the actual van not the sliding door) that the catch (on the sliding door) goes over, well that gets worn in the same place, and the cath gets worn even more. The proper cur eis a new catch, but they are obslete from the main dealer now (since about 9 months ago). You therefore have 2 options: 1, obtain a known to be good second hand catch, 2, try turning the fat pin that the catch goes over slightly, so the catch doesn't touch the same place on the pin, if your lucky this will work, if your not lucky you'll have to find a good used catch
Tradesize...spot on recommendation. I hadn't realised that it had or could move, but tried it out and hey presto! Might need to play around as the door seems a little slack in the opening, but at least theres a door there when I'm driving with the kids.
