eberspacher not working

Post by saviogimmi »

I'm very new to this, so forgive my stupidity. I recently purchased an 85 high top westy 1.6 td, have sorted all rust issues out and painted using roller method which worked!! I next started on the inside, everything works except the eberspacher. I do not understand the controls for a start so thats not helping the issue, it has the old control next to the rear seat with a dial with numbers round the outside, which i set to the highest, then use the switch and flick it to the heating setting. All i get is a clicking noise, if i put it on the blower setting it blows cold air. I also have the timer in the rear seat base it an analouge type do i need to set this, if i do how
any help will be appreciated.

Find out which model you have and then download the manual from here

Does it start up with the engine running?

Have a look in the Wiki which is up there ^^^^^ as there is load of good info about trouble shooting

It will be a D2L..........
firstly try it with the engine running this is the most common problem due to a flat leisure battery.
It usually takes thirty seconds or so from the ticking to ignition and then another couple of mins to produce heat.
Give it a try.

the ones i've seen start off very slowly and the speed builds over around a minute or so when in the heat position. the ticking is normal i think
