dash lights

Post by Scooby »

I have just tried to fit new bulbs in the dash lights, but both the slid in holders have been damaged in the past. my question is does any one know how the small piece of metal is fixed into these holders as they have been taped on.also are these holders easy to get hold of? :(

I found fitting the metal plate in the binical first and sliding the plastic bit on afterwards worked. They aren't held in as such but don't move once fitted properly. Make it so the sloped in the metal points sort of towards the clock. Dificult to explain if both sides have been dismantled, I looked at the other side for referance, was fiddley though! (didn't know about the metal bit untill I herd it move  ). Would never remove them to change a bulb (I was makeing it green).

Bulb Houseing is a T3 only part I'm afraid so its a breaker or dealer only bit I suspect. I'd try VW as it'll be perfect and they apear to be really cheep (pennys?). A breaker probubly won't want to take small bits worth near nothing off whats otherwise a good (probubly valuble) clockset, especally if theres a big risk of plastic breaking during removal rendering everything scrap.

P/N 251919070 I think, probubly written on it anyway. Metal bit isn't listed as a part so maybe they are ment to be stuck on something as an assembly, probibly the slidy thing, when new? "theres only one way to find out."

isn't there a metal prong in the middle of the metal bit that locates in the plastic housing? might need bending a bit for it to engage in the plastic housing.
