You could buy my 16" Syncro (in vehicles for sale) and have the guys at Syncronuts combine it with what you already have. You already have a good donor! (That's half the battle.)

Cheers,

Robert

You got it !

I didn't have too much trouble getting off sites this year and I thank my narrow-ish Winter tyres for that.

I'm amazed that 2 driving wheels were able to propel my van, 3 people, all our stuff, 1x6ft angel statue,a bell tent a huge site toolkit etc etc out of the mud and off the site after Bestival. Not going to abuse my little 1.6Td like that again.

I like things to look standard - not to be standard. Stealthy like.

Is the main difference between Synchro and Standard suspension stiffer shocks n springs then or is there other stuff going on down there too?

I'm asking because i'm currently considering what configuration to go for and I want the ride height / ground clearance without the springy bounce and crap cornering when driving - normally on a road etc. A fellow forum-er suggested Multivan springs and AVO adjustables. Another -10mm at the front. Any other opinions?

In my opinion the syncro's do drive better than 2wd, the suspension is slightly firmer, much better for taking road humps at speed etc. Much better on the twisties, and the saftey advantage of 4wd.

The choice of aftermarket springs is worse than for the 2wd. The most thought out seems to be from go-westy in america, but the springs are H+R from germany.

http://www.gowesty.com/

I often drool over their parts and attitude.

Some have talked about lowering syncros, as they are noticably higher than a 2wd, if you did, you would have your stealth syncro, except for the fuel filler being at the back.

Standard these vehicles are very competent, there is no need to modify. (Unless you want to)

I have a de-coupler and often try to see how far I can get up a lane in 2wd, and if it is dry, and the rear wheels stay on the ground then you have a fighting chance.

Mine is a full camper, and very heavy, this improves the suspension as the weight compresses the suspension much more off road, improving tyre contact and grip.

I like camping in the woods, a syncro is just so perfect for that, there really is no other vehicle that does this so well.

Sorry, but I'm going to poke in again...

My completely stock 16 is wonderful to drive around town either empty or full of people. On Sunday afternoon I took 7 people for a day out to visit a National Trust site. It was raining hard most of the day, and we had to drive in city traffic , the motorway, and country lanes. The ride was very comfortable, and between the standing water and the leaves, I was very happy to be driving an all wheel drive van. There are after market springs and shocks, http://www.syncro-bernd-jaeger.de/ENGLI ... rwerk.html for instance, but the stock kit works great.

By the way, this was not an advertisement for my van, which I hate to be selling.

I did'nt say I liked the prices but take a minute to read the specs. If you want something for nothing then you will have to do it your self!!

It's a syncro, not a synchro
