T25 Hightop Camper Roof Removal

Post by Alan25 »

Hi There!

Recently purchased a 1980 t25 hightop roof and I am now doing body repairs. Thinking about removing the roof so I can do a proper spray job in my garage. Is there anybody who can give me some good advice on how to best remove the roof so I can re attach it again when I have finished my restoration work. The roof is bonded so I need to know the best way of breaking the seal so I can remove the roof undamaged.

Any tips gratefully received

Cheers
Alan

T25 Hightop Camper Roof Removal

Hi and welcome.
I have removed 2 hi tops without causing damage and both have been refitted. I started by using a sharp knife to "get a start" then use a B&D Scorpion saw to cut between the steel roof and the hi top, working from inside for the sides and outside for front and rear. Take it slowly and all should be well. You'll need a proper sealnt to refit. I was recoomended Tiger seal and had no problems with it at all. (shop around for best price!).
Good Luck
