Obsolete part help?

Post by sundial »

Can anybody help with this? The problem was found to be a perished boot on the bottom of the 5 speed gear stick, T3-PO pointed me in the right direction and loads of grease as helped! But the boot which covers the pin for 1st and reverse selection as gone! The part no. Is 251711248a, but vw say it's obsolete! Any idea's?

gear selector boot

There's no boot on ours. Just cover it in white grease its more heat resistant than the normal stuff.

Thanks for the replies....

have located the required part at Gunzl's, but the shipping cost appears to be as much as the part itself!

before I go for it I think I need to try a little harder locally.....or if anybody is ordering from Gunzl in the near future may the shipping can be shared..

thanks
