speaking to a rather honest kyham trader at vanfest about my motordome sleeper probs and he confirmed that there is a problem with the sleeper in that the stiched seam on this particular awning is 3 1/2 cm shorter than the rest of the kyham range but the bedroom pole is the same for all.
drilling an extra hole 3 1/2 cms up the bedroom pole sorts it out. kyham apparently know about it and are addressing the fact silently.
will be doing mine asap.
any views on the fiamma f45ti 3m roll out awning for a pop top westy, thinking of getting one.
cheers lee.
.
kyham.. bit of info.

Hi Lee
Also have a new Dome Sleeper and it is a great bit of kit; over the summer we had two of the plastic knees on the bedroom poles snap which we luckily found we could replace in a camping shop in truro.
Can you post up a picture of the recommended mod when you have done it as im a little unsure of the positioning of the hole you are referring to . If this solves the pole tension snapping joint issue it will be very welcome.
thanks

will post a pic when i`ve done the mod but it`ll be a while as the syncro is being stripped out and insulated atm.
was told to drill 1 hole 3.5cms further up the outer tube so the inner tube will slide in 3.5cms further on both sides, that way you still have adjustment for uneven ground but with the option of less tension on flat ground.
apparently kyham are shortning the inner pole by 3.5cms and not drilling another hole but removing the plastic plug from the end of the pole is apparently very difficult without damaging it hence the simple drill hole option.
be nice to know if it works so if anyone has a chance to do this before i do lets hear about it.

Snap ... in every sense of the word!

I've just got 2 replacements, under warranty. I spoke to Khyam and they said to go back to the people who supplied the tent ... I'm beginning to think this could be becoming a common fault????
The tent supplier wouldn't confirm or deny what ..lee.. has said which makes me think about cover-ups and consipracy theories!! But did say that other retailers and customers are well aware something ain't right!
We're doomed!
