Hi,
I drive a 1984 watercooled Auto Type 25 1.9L petrol
I was working on my Type 25 today. the plan was to replace Drive flange oil seals for new shiny ones.
Got cv joints disconnected. got access to seals, remove them to find out the new seal I bought were different (too big) to the old ones fitted on my van.
See pictures ( the one on the left is the new seal and is too big and the small one on the right is the one fitted on van and the right size)
Not sure what to do now! Anyone knows where I can find the smaller seals? Should I go to VW direct?
Please help!

If your struggling at VW take the original to a bearing firm (found in yellow pages etc) .... these oil seals are VERY common and easily identified by measuring them ..... id x od x depth is how the reference works .... hence a standard off the shelf '65 x 85 x 10' oil seal has an OD of 85mm an ID of 65mm and a depth of 10mm.
