Chippieshaun. Chrissiefiddle brought the Blue Peter connection up, it totally diversifies from the original topic but it is relevant if you re-read the post, .
You should not get any splinters when following Valerie Singletons directions, that is unless Shep brings a wood stick into play, but there again it or you would not be unsupervised,
Meggles is alsio quite correct when he says(I know he's a he as we've met) Youve made a goulash of it, this is a peculiar saying confined to YO1-3 postcodes, we would say 'made a hash of it' well there you go , learn something everyday here.

Metalmick8y, 'twas a pleasure to meet you but you missed the point. I looked like a bloke but I was wearing wife's clothing. The stuff she wears when cooking goulash!! Now I do not know if I am a bloke, a tart or a hungarian ghoulash. Then again I might be a chippie!

Don't let it get to you.
For a full width bed, you will need very good plywood.. like solid birch 18mm ply @ about £60 a 8' x 4' sheet. Another sheet for the base. I would put a couple of 2x1 birch strips under seat and on back to increase rigidity. I suggest bolts for mounting hardware.

Hi e3. I'm not a carpenter but I've made a buddy seat within last month and about to fit a rock n roll bed in my bus tomorrow. Its not actually a complex affair but a circular saw helps.

Theres no definitive guide by the look of it. The final size the bed seat is partly personal taste and what already exists in there. As I'm new to fitting them too, I built a very simple four sided box from scrap chipboard this evening onto which I can mount the hinges and decide the best place for them on the real bed/seat - ie its a dummy I can experiment on. its also only a foot wide for that reason.
