T25 suspension parts

Post by sezicoolcat »

If you've been following the saga of my van's MOT and the camping issue I have because I am having trubs sourcing a part, here is an update.

I have to get hold of items called "space sleeve for Radius rod" (part no 5 on vwheritage exploded diagram of the T25 suspension (part no: 251-407-097)

They are like hens teeth.

I have rang GSF - they have "anti roll bar sleeves" 2 of instock. I'm going there to collect tomoz.

After going onto just kampers website, I now have a dillemma, as I'm not sure that the anti roll bar spacers are the correct thing...

Looking at JK website exploded diagram of Type 25 front suspension

, they have parts J10935/J109351 and call them anti-roll bar sleeves.

The part I need is not highlighted on their exploded diagram and sits between the bushes that they DO have listed J10770 and J10846.

I'll try and upload a diagram but I am at work and keep ducking and diving - I'm not meant to be surfing the web - meant to be working...

Here is the JK URL (whoops kwik boss)

Just Kampers just confirmed via email - its NOT the same part.

Just rang VW - apparently, VW do not make this part anymore - its obsolete.

I guess then, that my only choice is to:

a) get 1 (in stock in VWHeritage - 6 weeks to wait for another) and either wait for the other or get antoher "machined" by Alan Schofield?

b) get one/pair from a scrapped vehicle (not what I wanted to do)

Matt in another post, suggested I contact T25vanspares; syncrospares; syncronutz as they are all 8090 - but I can't find them listed to PM them...

Thanks all. Shall watch my mailbox for a PM (incase you find any in reasonable condition T25-GTi) :-)

Off to VWHeritage in the morning to collect the last one they have.
I'll try and get one machined... But its not so easy "down south" Ian.
Shame my uncle died last year - he rebuilt his old BSA motorcycle from his own machined parts...

I am going to get a number of these done up and keep the original intact, I think. Maybe I'll post up the OD etc and someone here who knows someone in the know, can make me up some too?

Still don't look like I'll be camping at Apps Court in the van - beemer and trailer tent it will be then!

Sarah,
there are some metal engineering places down chatham docks...maybe worth taking the one you get tomorrow down the docks to see if you can get sommat similar.

Would probably be interested in some myself....store them so that when I need 'em I will have no idea where I put them!!

I bought a pair about three months ago from my local VW dealer, no hassle. May still be available, got to be worth asking hasn't it ? 251 407 097 £2.29.

Sorry, forget that, I just got the latest ETOS price update and they're gone.

Thick-walled hard steel tube, you don't want 2nd hand ones, they will be grim...

There might well be some on VW shelves, still... in the UK.

My first place of call was to VW Merton as the van is local to there currently (at my mechanics).

Was told VW no longer make this part. was told best to get through the contacts of vw enthusiasts, hence here folks.

I'm picking one up from VWHeritage tomorrow - the last one they have!

Once this is in my grubby little paws, I can photo it and take the necessary OD's etc.

My stepdad is saying my mechanic wants the van gone from outside his house - he knows he can't get this part - he's been commissioned with the work, so why is he putting the pressure on too?... When the going gets tough hey?

I am going to if T2's use this same part - just under a diferent part number? Because I think VW still make parts for the T2... Just a thought...
