Sliding door lock catch

Post by little.legs »

:( Hiya
Went to cornwall and broke my sliding door lock catch. Hard to describe but the square box thing fixed to the door that has a vertical metal piece which the hook on the body catches onto to hold the door open. The vertical metal piece inside the box bit is no longer there - best guess is its snapped off at some point over the fortnight.

I think its part of the handle mechanism but havent had chance to look yet. Anyone any ideas or know where to get a replacement.

She's a 1985 1.9DG hitop.

Cheers
Jamie

Try VW themselves.

I had problems with sliding door catches myself, the parts I wanted, the catch for keeping the door closed, was obselete but I seem to remember (can't be 100% sure though) the bits you wanted were still available.

Failing that try a plea in the wanted section, there's where mine came from in the end ... FOC as well! :D

Ours never had an external handle, and the recess was filled in.

The handle used to work from the inside, but now its all loose and feels like it just kinda almost catches something. There was a little knob that was tied in the up position with string, but that doesnt appear to make any difference if its up nor down (or neither up nor down)
