Suction Clamp Awning Mounting Brackets From JK

Post by Campcharlie »

Our guttering that we attach the awning to is full up with god knows what so attaching the awning to the van is a pain in the ass....we can't tighten the clamps up tight enough..then they fall off
my question is are the
Suction Clamp Awning Mounting Brackets from JK any good?
Do they fall off easy?...am getting fed up with the clamp and pole falling off.

Thanks

Hi Brid,

I sold my old awning to my cousin who's got a T4 with no gutters. Her hubby bought the suction thingies from JK & said that they did the job just fine - they've had the awning up in some atrocious Welsh weather too......

.........but shouldn't you guttering be clear to stop water sitting in it????

The gutters on Auto-Sleeper high tops & solid-sided pop tops are 3/4 full of sealant from the factory. It causes water to overflow & limits the choice of awning fixings that can be used. You could fit a metal rail to the side of the high top & use figure of eight strips instead of the pole & clamp method. :)

what awning do you have? I'm lazy and just throw the ropes over the roof and peg at the other side. If you pull it tight it tends to be prety tight to the roof, and means you don't have to get the van parked dead right on returning form a day out. I looked at the suction things, and have heard good things on the JK site about them, but i can't help but think they are expensive really for what they are....

Bowlton Lad....the sealant is defo more than 3/4 full infact its full to the top hence we have problems fitting the clamps....there is already a metal rail attached for a figure of eight strip to be attached....so this is a stoopid question but asking cos i don't know...if we get a figure of 8 strip to attach onto the rail already attached how do we then attach the awning....the awning does not have the awning piping to slide onto the figure of 8 its the pole and clamp method :? ...

Kathy...its a traditional square one bought this year from JK...but im liking the idea of what u have suggested....dont know if the suctionpads are expensive...we did look at them at vanfest and have to say they looked solid and well made.
