Urgent help needed!!!

Post by guccirachael »

Travelling down from Vanfest to Cornwall on Sunday night and got 20 miles from home when started badly missing. Have checked fuel up to both carbs (2.0l Aircooled), have changed spark plugs but still running like a pig. Bad juddering but this gets better if i put my foot down. Done a similar thing on journey up but put this down to really heavy rain as it cleared quite quickly. Do you think it sounds like dropped valve or fuel? - got one seriously peed off husband and not a nice end to a fab weekend! Need van to get to work so urgent please if anyone can help.

Check the vacuum pipes/elbows on either side of the engine for splits. The rubber perishes & splits resulting in poor running & erratic idling & possibly stalling at traffic lights etc.

Hi guys, problem sorted - hole the size of a 5p in the fuel filler pipe and this let the rain in big time. Awaiting new one to fit and in the meantime have filled the tank back up and seems to be getting better already! Thanks for all the tips - Gertie is back alive and kicking! :D

glad you got it sorted but would be worth changing the fuel filter too as it will almost definately be contaminated with water and general muck etc
