bad news

hi guys,just got van back from garage,told it was a lost cause.has a 1.9 turbo diesel thats mounted squew wiff,drives well and pulls fine,but with the low emmisions laws coming into play in 2010 all diesels over 1.2 tons are non complient,think i might have to change the engine,just wanted the best alternative for my van.have a vauxhall omega v6 2.5 as a donor is this viable?any advice would be most welcomed.
