How Do I fit Door Glass?

Post by mud »

Managed to break the front door wind down glass on my t3 Syncro this morning (or rather my Dad did) and having cleared up the glass and removed the door card I'm puzzled as to how I'm going to get a new piece of glass in?

Any tips please :?

Thanks,

tis a fun job!

Had ours broken a couple of times - hubby dab hand at it now.

Got door card off....lower window from fully up unitl a little bolt head lines up with a hole in the metal of the door. This bolt needs to be removed.

There are other bolts on the carrier that also need to be removed

Need to clear all the little bits of broken glass out of the carrier.

Offer the new glass in. This is fiddly. very fiddly - for ages we couldn't see how it went. You will probably have to remove the surround to get it in - we did. Remember - the windows are handed as have a curve to them!

Offer glass into carrier. line up glass, make bolts tight enough to hold glass. Wind window up and down. Make final adjustments if req and tighten bolts.

Hope this helps

Hmmmm been trying for an hour and can't figure out how to get the new glass into the door frame, the gap is just too small :?:

Do I need to separate the door panels?

eh up....two panels....is this the windy window in the front?

then no. But you do have to take the plastic surround out, so you are down to just the metal frame all the way round. Then just replace when you have got the glass in.....it does go, honest. Tis fiddly though!
