ADVICE/HELP NEEDED PLEASE
1600 n/a diesel, 4 speed, CS spec rad, bleed top left hand corner.
I have fitted an aux water temp gauge, this is taken/wired from the housing at the rear of the block from the same place as the original temp gauge feed. The auxillary one reads fine but the dash gauge now does not register correctly, red light flash when you turn the ignition on but gauge only just moves.
The next one is that the cooling fan has decided not to switch on when the temp rises to 95degrees or when in traffic, heater on to keep temp down
Am I right in thinking that the problem lies with the thermo switch ?
I have noticed that the radiator is not getting as hot as it used too so that would inply that there is a flow problem, bled the rad and the flow was contant but not that hot, that confused me . How can there be pressure but no real transfer of heat
I then went to check the water pump, header cap of, revved engine, water level dropped, thats OK then.
What is it or what could it be, what have I not ruled out ?
Is there a way in which I could test the fan beside sticking 12 volts up it and is there a way in which I could test the thermo switch.
Konfused Kris ( nothing new there then, sorry about the essay )
