Wanting to upgrade engine and gearbox...

Post by Iceworx »

I have the 1.6d at the moment with a rather poor gearbox.

Who would be the best people to speak to about putting a decent 1.9TD and better gearbox in?

Unfortunately its not that easy....

However, you might want to talk to Simon from Brickwerks - he even has a 1.6td for sale at the moment...

Thats half the battle won then!

Are you going to do the work yourself?

I think Ringo was answering your question directly... 'who do I ask or who should I ask to do this work'?

That is what I think he meant was difficult, finding someone to do these sort of conversions for you... in the wrong hands they can end up a nightmare and not be entirely satisfactory. Brickwerks is one place it will get done properly if you can agree a spec.

Thanks Clive.

Basically, if your not keeping it stock - then you have to do the work yourself unless you have an amazing mechanic.
Brickwerks specialise in them so you can expect that service - but your normal joe spanner aint going to be interested.
