2008 versioon of motordome classic - what's different?

Post by daschmoo »

Hi all

Looking at getting a Khyam Motordome Classic awning for Vanfest as it's our first time out with the dogs! Have been scouting arount t'interweb and found a great price of £209 whereas everywhere else seems to be £295 +... the thing is this cheaper one isn't advertised as the 2008 model but has exactly the same pic (y'know the one with the red 25!) So what will I not be getting for the £86 saving? Any ideas?

Cheers

Vic

Check it has a sewn in ground sheet. I think newer ones have them now. Mine was bought in 2007 and doesn't. I had to buy it as an extra.

Check it's a 'Classic' not the bigger one ... whatever that's called (Excelsior  ) ... it's bigger than was designed for the van-based camper and doesn't fit the same.

Sorry to those who have them .... BUT they're too big for a 25 yet too 'down-market' for a gin palace, hence the discount :? .

Yeah it's definitely the classic and not the tourer. Have looked again at it and it does say "N/A" next to the groundsheet part of the spec so it looks like it is just minus a groundsheet... unlike the 2008 model that has it sewn in? I think I may go for it as times is 'ard and I have a couple of groundsheets I can improvise with until I can purchase an exact fit. Once I've got it ordered it a few days I'll post the name of the website (if that's allowed) incase anybody else wants a cheapie... don't want all you lot snapping up the stock after trawling the internet for hours to find the best price!

I`ve got the 2008 TOURER, it`s the ideal size for a T25 as it`s made to be the correct height for the attachment gusset to couple up to the gutter rail at the correct level.

I believe the 2007 models were a dark blue, the new 2008 model is light blue and grey, and doesn`t have a sewn-in groundsheet either. Buy a piece of Ecomat groundsheet (2 mtr square) it`s ideal for the job.
Keep it real.

As promised earlier in the thread here is a link to the retailer selling the Classic (not 2008 model?) at £209.99...

http://www.intertent.co.uk/product_330- ... Awning.htm

When I phoned up to order they said it was the last one but you never know they may have more in stock elsewhere or coming in. :)
