Sloppy gearchange. Is nearly fixed but not 100%

Post by Bendyknees »

Have just been renewing all the bushes and joints in my gears linkage. is amazing the difference 20 quids worth of tiny bits of rubber and plastic can make to the bowl of porridge i used to call my selector box.Ive also replaced the cup and ball at the gearbox end. Only thing is i cant seem to get rid of movement while in 3rd gear. The lever has a fair bit of play in it compared to all the other gears. could i need to replace the selector ball by my lef foot? is about the only bit i havent replaced.

i thought i might have to do that bit as well. bugger. The bill this year for my end of summer sort out is getting quite large. mind you is still cheaper than if i had a modern camper an 1 of the sensors had failed :D
For any1 else out there thinking of sorting ya linkage out i have this to say. Do it now, its not as hard as you think it will be, and the end result makes it much nicer to drive.
Kit is 20 quid from brickwerks :D

Kits could be 320, or lots more, it depends on the width of your shaft!
12mm for early ones, 14mm for later ones, best check your shaft before you buy!
