I'm going through thermostats on both my diesels like you wouldnt believe.
Every time my engine gets hotter than normal the damn thing will stop operating.
Anyone else have this problem?

Why are they getting hotter than normal?
What happens to them?
I've never had that.
Alternator/water pump belt went on the 1Y and it the needle went to the top of the gauge before it was safe to pull over. Thermostat has been open ever since.
Radiator on the AAZ van was knackered so the van kept overeating - never got to the top as i kept stopping. Gets in it this morning and the thermostat was stuck open. I only just put that one in!

Hey Ringo......
To me it sounds like it could be either:-
* air-locking
* a lack of water movement to the Rad
* water pipe on wrong somewhere
*(Slim chance of) water pump fins worn and not moving water enough?

It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!

How did you know it was stuck open when you got in it?
I could do with that extra sense, it would save me hours of dicking about...
Yeah, alright....

I got out and the rad was hot even though the needle was barely registering. The needle used to go up to the Led and stay there.
Im fully aware that my heating problems need sorting (in fact, i think they are sorted) - im just a bit miffed at why the thermostats are sooo damn sensitive.
Thanks guys,
