Best fillers

I have done some filling on the van..however for some reason the finish of the filler when dry is coarse! So I ended up doing another layer only to find that's much the same!

I've done golf ball size filler with a pea of hardener, which has worked in the past. The temp seems to be mild, no wind..so I'm confused what I'm doing wrong! I've tried filling it up quite a bit then giving it a good sand back but I still get a rough finish. When sanding back the filler I've used 400 and then tried a 800 but that didn't sand much.

Any help kindly appreciated.

Do two bit on card , one as is and the other with double hardner and leave it to set in the house to set, then try it,

I've often had the same problem and use a filler primer to smooth out the final surface.

Is halfords filler primer any good?

I would think so. Any primer that has a 'build' quality is what you want. It fills minor dots, spots and scrapes left in filler quite well.

Dolphin glaze is brill stuff for final finish. The reason its going wrong tho is your working it to much, plus use about 250 300 grit for initial sanding!!

What's Dolphin glaze..and where do you recommend getting it?
