Water pump question

Post by hightower »

I took the under slung water tank off my van today, lets face it i'm not going to ever use it as it was full of stagnant water when i purchased it and the woman i got it off said they never got the water pump working and they had the van for 9 years.

Anyway i've got a 10lt plastic jerry can that fits in the cupboard in the space behind the fridge so doesnt take up any usable space, i also found the water pump behind the fridge but it seems to be dead, i've put a fuse in the fusebox as wasn't one in there for it, i get 12.5v at the wiring connectors but nothing. The pump is a whale superline 99, on reading the side it says non self priming, this pump must be primed before use and running dry can cause damage.

So what pump should i get to replace it with? should i just get a submersible to drop in the jerry can or another external pump, if so are they allnon self priming and if so how do you prime these pumps?

Thanks in advance
